“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” (Matthew 25:40, NIV)

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8, NIV)

In the 16th century, Moravians became a pilgrim people, on the move, seeking those places where its unique expressions of a simple community of faith could be practiced freely, never losing sight of their potential to once again bear fruit as a “hidden seed” for establishing God’s Kingdom. Eventually, Moravians launched themselves outward, first into Europe, then beyond, across the world as the first organized Protestant mission movement. The Moravian Church continues in that spirit. It is our very reason for being a church.

Our mission spirit manifests itself in many ways, both locally and on a global basis. Redeemer is actively involved in the following efforts:

  • Teaching English as a Second Language – Open registration. Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes. There is no charge for attendance (though there may be a periodic charge for certain materials). Please contact our office at info@redeemermoravian.org to sign up.
  • Feeding the Hungry – Redeemer has a long history of helping to meet the needs of hungry people in our community. We support the Smokey Row Food Pantry, which provides emergency, supplemental food to those in need. This spring we are focusing on peanut butter, Mac and Cheese, NutriGrain Bars, tuna, jelly and fruit snacks.  Items can be dropped off at the church on Sunday mornings or weekday mornings (Tuesday – Friday)
  • Helping the Victims of AIDS – Our congregation has “adopted” a village in Tanzania, specifically to provide care for children who are orphaned by AIDS. We help supply food, bedding, school uniforms, schooling and basic medical care. We do this through a special joyful noise (collecting coins) offering the third Sunday of each month.
  • Opening our Doors to the Community – We strive to be good stewards of our facilities. Several community organizations use our building, on a regular basis, including The Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion Company and The Hanamizuki No Kai Japanese Women’s Chorus. We have hosted a regular AA meeting and have room to host other AA, NA or Al-anon groups. WE have also hosted blood drives, Lifeline Screening and other neighborhood groups. We share our space with an Hispanic Seventh Day Adventist congregation and the Agora Brethren’s Church.
